eureka

I've noticed that of all the networks, the one that is getting most of my DVR space belongs to the Sci Fi channel. I'm really late in catching on to the show Eureka (click to watch the full 1st episode).
"
But for all its familiar, small-town trappings, things in this secret hamlet are anything but ordinary. The stereotype of the absent-minded professor exists for a reason, and most of the quantum leaps in science and technology during the past 50 years were produced by Eureka's elite researchers. Unfortunately, scientific exploration is rarely what one expects, and years of experiments gone awry have yielded some peculiar by-products.

From unrequited love to professional jealousy, from addiction to depression, the problems of Eureka's townsfolk stem from life's myriad of everyday challenges. But with the population's unique talents, troubled psyches and limitless resources, these small-town concerns have a way of becoming big-time problems. It is at that intersection, where human frailty and super-science collide, that Eureka begins….
"
And while the star of the show Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson), is super hot and I doubt I'd have watched the show at all without him, it's his daughter Zoe Carter (Jordan Hinson ) who is that one special ingredient that makes me really love this show.

"Zoe Carter is Jack Carter's defiant, delinquent, and also terribly intelligent daughter. Though Zoe tries to keep up her "riot grrrl" image, behind her attitude and piercings she's just another young woman who wants her absentee father to pay her some attention. And what's the best way to attract a cop's attention? Consistently put oneself at odds with the law — something that Zoe has become quite adept at doing. But in truth, reuniting her divorced parents is her ultimate goal — a factor that makes dating a difficult prospect for Carter."

I've watched all the season 1 episodes courtesy of youtube (what would I do without it... thanks tvguy whoever you are), except for episode 1 which you can find on the link above, or catch the re-runs that air on Tues. at 9 immediately after my long long long time fave Dead Like Me. To this day I still hold a grudge against Showtime for not making 4th season and leaving me hanging!

And in a little over a week (January 21) The Dresden Files airs it's first episode: Birds of a Feather. I hope they've done justice to the story and characters us Dresden Files fans have come to love.
